Hello Parents!
Just a reminder--today is the first day I will be sending home homework with your student. I need to have it turned in the next day, unless your child has an excused absence. There is a reading side and a math side everyday. Please have you child read for one minute, then circle how far they got, and write a number one by the circle. Do this two more times. If your child seems to be having problems with the passage, read it with him/her the second time and don't time that reading. The student should make good progress on the third reading and will feel FABULOUS about how fast they can read it. On the math side, please just check it for accuracy. If we wait until the next morning, a good teaching moment will be lost. Of course, if I see that there are many errors, I will address it during our teaching time. If you have questions about how we do something, please call me.
The lunch menus for the next few weeks are:
Sept 13: Pepperoni pizza, salad, pineapple tidbits, cherry cookie and milk.
Sept 14: Crispy chicken salad, breadstick, apple, and milk.
Sept 15: Corn dog, fries, green beans, cake with cherries, and milk.
Sept 16: Beef and bean burrito, corn, spanish rice, banana, and milk.
Sept 17: Turkey with mashed potatoes and gravy, California veggies, whole wheat roll, raspberry jello, and milk.
Sept 20: Chicken nuggets, mashed potatoes, whole wheat roll, peaches, and milk.
Sept 21: Spaghetti and meatballs, mixed veggies, hard roll, pineapple, and milk.
Sept 22: Beef taco, corn on the cob, apple crisp, and milk.
Sept 23: Hamburger, fries, carrot sticks, strawberry jello with fruit, and milk
Sept 24: Canadian bacon pizza, peas and carrots, breakstick, pineapple tidbits, and milk.
Now I will say why I LOVE a few more students:
Cordell is fun to teach! He listens so intently and pays such close attention. He does his best on all of his work. He is becoming a leader in our class.
I love having Mia in my class. She completes all of her work, and is helpful to other students. She is a friend to all the children and they all want to sit by her.
Leslie has the cutest smile! She gives great answers to all of my questions and is the first one to jump up when something needs to be done.
Katie is a helpful girl. She often stays after school for a minute and straightens the room for our custodian. She comes to school ready to learn. She also always knows where we are when we read together. She also knows how important it is to listen quietly for instructions.
Carson has been fun to work with in school too. I love to "watch the wheels turn" in his head. When he "gets it," his whole face lights up!
Mason wishes me a good day every single day! He tries his best to follow along, and uses his big voice when he reads so the other students can hear.
